Telecom Namibia deployed or upgraded 25 base stations in 2022

Telecom Namibia (TN) has revealed it continued to invest in infrastructure development in 2022 as part of its network modernisation drive to expand coverage, increase capacity and enhance service quality. Under the TN Mobile brand, it extended 3G and 4G connectivity to both urban and rural areas by deploying and upgrading 25 mobile sites across the country.

Of the total, eleven new sites were deployed supporting 2G/3G/4G services, a further eleven were upgraded from 2G to 3G, and three sites updated from 3G to 4G. The company said it is reviewing the mobile network architecture to ‘better optimise its performance and mitigate against network strain, as more and more customers continue to use [its] services’.

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, TN outlined plans last year to invest more than NAD2.3 billion (USD127 million) over five years to modernise its networks and accelerate the company’s digital transformation.
