StarGroup, a Mexican telecoms and entertainment company, has selected the Hughes JUPITER System and Hughes’s managed satellite broadband platform to extend LTE connectivity to customers in rural communities.
The rollout is part of the state-backed ‘Internet para Todos’ (Internet for Everyone) programme, which is being overseen by the Federal Electricity Commission (Comision Federal de Electricidad, CFE). Via the contract, StarGroup hopes to connect hundreds of remote cell towers with Ka-band capacity using Hughes terminals.
