CityFibre confirms its full fiber network now passes more than 2.5m premises

British pure fiber provider CityFibre has issued an update on the progress of its network rollout to date, while highlighting some of its key achievements in 2022. According to the wholesale operator, it added more than one million ‘ready for service’ (‘RFS’) premises to its network footprint during the course of last year, a development which it claimed, ‘marked its most productive year ever and a 40% increase on the previous year’s performance’.

CityFibre reported that it network footprint increased by 83% in 2022, adding that its infrastructure rollout is now underway in 75 metropolitan areas. As of end-2022 the operator’s network reached more than 2.5 million premises, of which 2.2 million were classified as being RFS. CityFibre has claimed that what it termed a ‘significant’ increase in build productivity in 2022 was due to it having fully mobilised its supply chain during the year. In line with this, the operator noted that in the second half of 2022 it achieved an average run rate of 22,000 premises passed per week, reflecting a major increase in network construction operatives and ongoing operational improvements.

Meanwhile, CityFibre was also keen to highlight the fact that it had onboarded 19 new ISP partner companies in 2022, bringing the total number of providers offering services over its infrastructure to 36 as of the end of the year. According to CityFibre, such partnerships saw 115,000 new residential subscriptions via its network added in 2022, bringing the total number of subscriptions served to more than 175,000.

Commenting on the company’s development, CityFibre CEO Greg Mesch was cited as saying: ‘We’re delighted at the huge progress we’ve made over the course of last year. We now have a fully financed rollout, fully mobilised supply chain and an established portfolio of onboarded ISP partners. After years of constant scaling, we are now entering a new phase of our development where we can focus on efficiencies and optimising our operations at scale.’
