MTC Namibia hails fiber rollout

MTC Namibia revealed it has to date deployed 475km of fiber to date across the country to meet the high demand of subscribers and reduce network congestion.

MTC chief human capital, corporate and marketing officer Tim Ekandjo said: “This development answers the long wait of reliable connectivity, while also smoothening the company’s journey of creating a sustainable value for all our stakeholders through innovative digital solutions and a high-performance culture.”

The operator highlighted the expansion should soothe congestion in various locations within the capital of Windhoek such as Elisenheim, Kleine Kuppe, Khomasdal and Cimbebasia.

The operator will continue its fibre expansion to more areas in Windhoek, as well as the cities of Swakopmund and Walvis Bay.

Customers will be able to subscribe to packages that range between 5Mbps to 50Mbps to access services such as streaming, smart home services and home entertainment.

Ecofin Agency reported the project had cost MTC Namibia NAD100 million (US$5.5m).
