Fixed broadband provider Converge ICT Solutions said it built out 600,000 new fiber ports in Central and Southern Philippines in the first seven months of this year, almost doubling its footprint in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
The ISP, a 66.0%-owned subsidiary of Comclark Network & Technology Corp, said it has opened business centres in key locations in Cebu. Its regional head office and first business centre is now in Mandaue City. CEO Dennis Uy confirmed: ‘This means that we have nearly doubled our fibre footprint in this region in just seven months from our original 300,000 ports rolled out at year-end 2021.’ As the Philippines’ economy recovers, the Visayas and Mindanao regions are increasingly becoming seen as a key growth area for the company in particular in the SME and Enterprise segment, which grew by 26% during the first six months of 2022.
