Robi, Teletalk and Summit Towers announce infrastructure sharing deal for Bangladesh

Bangladesh operators Robi Axiata and Teletalk Bangladesh, along with infrastructure group Summit Towers, have entered into a tri-party agreement for sharing existing network infrastructure.

Robi and Teletalk will be able to share their infrastructure in collaboration with Summit Towers based on guidelines defined by the agreement.

Summit Towers Limited (STL) describes itself as a leading end-to-end infrastructure support provider with a nationwide telecommunication transmission network. The company is a subsidiary of Summit Communications Limited, one of the largest international terrestrial cable service providers in Bangladesh.

STL was awarded a tower sharing license by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) in 2018 to build and operate tower infrastructures enabling tower-sharing services nationally.

The agreement between the three companies was signed recently in the conference room of the Posts and Telecommunications division at the Bangladesh Secretariat in the presence of a number of officials from the government and all three companies.

While precise details of the timing and numbers of towers involved do not yet appear to have been offered, the signatories say that the partnership will help the operators to facilitate quick rollout and to serve their customers better. It will also help them to optimize their assets and save energy by more efficiently utilizing their existing resources.
