Polish utility firm TAURON Polska Energie has announced that 10,000 households in ‘digitally excluded’ areas are now connected to its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network, which has been deployed as part of the Operational Programme Digital Poland (OPDP) scheme.
TAURON, which focuses on southern Poland, launched its wholesale fibre service in June 2021, and has signed a total of 52 framework agreements with ISPs to date. Of this figure, a total of 18 ISPs are currently providing retail services via TAURON’s networks, including the likes of Orange Polska, UPC Polska, Netia and Vectra.
TAURON notes that rollouts have been completed in four of the seven areas it has been contracted to serve; the remaining areas should be connected to fibre networks by the end of 2022.
