Globe Telecom commences US$150 million fiber cable project

Globe Telecom has partnered with two other telecom players to construct a US$150 million fiber cable network to boost mobile and broadband services.

CNN Philippines reported, that software provider Eastern Communications and broadband specialist InfiniVAN are partners in the construction of the 2,500km Philippine Domestic Submarine Cable Network.

The companies expect the project to expand connectivity across the country and deliver fibre connections to remote locations. Construction of the cable is expected to be completed over the next nine months, according to Globe.

The cable will land in the following locations: Sorsogon, Masbate, Marinduque, Camiguin, Siargao, Boracay, and Zamboanga.

Globe Business Enterprise Group VP of strategic infrastructure investments Arlene Jallorina said: “We know there may be other challenges along the way. We hope we'll be able to work through them quickly and very much solidly as a group. We are doing this so that our customers will get equitable access to connectivity, wherever they may be in the country."
