Ooredoo fibre broadband reaches Dhaandhoo

Ooredoo Maldives has expanded its ‘SuperNet’ fibre-optic broadband service to Dhaandhoo, an inhabited island in Gaafu Alif Atoll. Customers are able to access fixed broadband speeds of up to 100Mbps. The Communications Authority of the Maldives (CAM) awarded an ISP licence to cellco Ooredoo in August 2015 and the firm launched commercial fixed telephony and broadband services in the capital Male in May 2016, notes TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database. Since then, fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) services have been expanded to 75% of the country.

‘Our fibre broadband SuperNet plans are offering the best plans in the market clubbed with massive data allowances, higher speeds and data rollover service,’ stated Hussain Niyaz, Chief Commercial Officer at Ooredoo Maldives, adding: ‘Today we have expanded our fibre SuperNet to the people of Dhaandhoo with a very special offer. We remain committed in providing quality internet services to people across the nation and connect the people to more opportunities.’
