Disney+ outlines CEE plans

Disney+ will be localised in a number of languages including Polish, Romanian, Hungary and Czech when it launches in 14 CEE countries on June 14.

Speaking a press briefing, Kakhaber Abashidze, country manager and media head, The Walt Disney Company Russia & CIS and Central and Eastern Europe, added that the streaming service is already present in 19 EMEA countries and had 137.7 million subscribers globally as of this May. Disney itself has been active in the CEE region for 50 years and currently has 300 employees there.

Abashidze said that Disney+ will focus on such areas as personalisation and navigation. It will offer some content in 4K HDR and Dolby sound, and be accessible on a range of devices including smart TVs and smartphones.

Its content will be offered under a number of brands including Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars.
