PT Mora Telematika Indonesia (Moratelindo), one of the largest fixed broadband infrastructure providers in Indonesia, has selected Ribbon Communications to supply it with elements from its switching and optical transport portfolio on two key sections of its network. The upgrade will enable Moratelindo to more than double the capacity of its Sumatra backbone to 3.6Tbps, while the 280km Batam subsea link, which extends Moratelindo’s reach to Singapore, now boasts an additional 2TB of transmission capacity. The Sumatra optical backbone reportedly uses Ribbon’s Apollo 9932 Core OTN Switch at multiple nodes, leveraging 16T switching capacity for efficient management and routing over the backbone.
Established in August 2000, Jakarta-based Moratelindo operates more than 48,515km of terrestrial and submarine fibre-optic infrastructure with a total capacity of 18,360Gbps.
