Electrical transportation specialist Afrimobility deployed its first network of Fastvolt fast-charging stations in Morocco.
According to a press release issued by Afrimobility on Wednesday, the stations will enable fast recharging in 30 minutes (for 80% autonomy), and charging stations will be available on the main motorways of Morocco, from north to south.
Afrimobility is currently developing a network of fast-charging stations, with 50kW on the Tangier-Agadir axis for electrical and rechargeable hybrid vehicles, added the source.
The company will also launch a mobile application to locate the nearest charging station, aiming to organize and reserve the recharging of the vehicle, while monitoring its consumption and the history of its last recharges.
"Afrimobility will therefore be the first in Morocco to set up such a network of fast charging stations, and we are very happy to contribute to the development of our country's charging infrastructure in order to prepare for the energy transition and generalize the use of ecological electric vehicles,” noted the press release.
Additionally, Afrimobility is pursuing an ambitious growth strategy by developing the first 100% Moroccan fast-charging station (from 60kW to 100kW), in collaboration with the Institute for Research in Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN).
Afrimobility is an investment company, aiming to identify new sources of growth in the field of transportation. The company works through partnerships, in addition to developing new projects in line with smart transportation and future energy goals.
Last month, innovative electric car manufacturer Tesla also made its way to Africa by installing its first “supercharger” charging stations in Morocco.
Africa’s first supercharger stations were spotted in Tangier, near the main highway that connects Morocco’s major cities on the Atlantic coast. The company installed four supercharger stations capable of delivering 150kW near the Tangier Al Houara Hilton Resort.
