Telekom Serbia buys all cable operators in Kosovo Serb

Serbian state-owned telecommunications operator Telekom Srbija has taken over all cable providers in Serb enclaves in Kosovo-Metohija, the chief executive officer of Telekom, Vladimir Lucic, announced.

In a statement to local media, Lucic confirmed that MTS doo, a daughter company of Telekom Srbija, had also acquired cable operator Hertz International (formerly known as Link) in central Kosovo.

"From 2,500 subscribers, we have grown to 30,000 in two years," Lucic said.

MTS doo was established as a result of a 2015 Brussels agreement on telecommunications. It took over VGN and Impuls, the two biggest cable operators in northern Kosovo, in 2019 and then bought two more cable companies and stopped broadcasting RTV Mir, a local independent station from Leposavic.

Telekom Srbija has bought the infrastructure and will be able to offer subscribers improved internet and TV services.
Post and Telekom was a single entity before privatisation and also one of Serbia’s first cable operators before the companies were split, with the cable infrastructure remaining part of Post.
