VSAT launched for Brunei-India satellite link

Network Integrity Assurance Technologies (NiAT) installed a new VSAT (very small aperture terminal) satellite communications system at the India Space Research Organisation Telemetry, Tracking, and Command (ISRO TTC) Station in Tungku Submarine Cable Station, Bandar Seri Begawan recently.

The installation was inaugurated by High Commissioner of India to Brunei Darussalam Ajaneesh Kumar.

Unified National Networks Sdn Bhd (UNN) CEO Dr Steffen Oehler and NiAT CEO Lim Ming Soon were also present.

Participating virtually were ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) Bengaluru Director Dr V V Srinivasan and NiAT Deputy CEO Siti Nuraazzah binti Pehin Dato Haji Abdul Aziz. The VSAT installation aimed at establishing a satellite link between Brunei and their rocket launch spaceport in Sriharikota Range (SHAR), India. It will be used as a communications medium for voice and data transmissions such as rocket launch performance parameters as it fleets across the Bruneian horizon.

To date, Brunei TTC station has been involved with over 20 launches .

The ISRO TTC Station primarily supports all launch vehicles and satellite missions of ISRO. It consists of installation for reception and recording of launch vehicle or spacecraft telemetry signals, and transmission of telecommand signals and tracking tones to launch vehicles and spacecraft.
