Egypt to launch joint schools for applied technology

Egypt’s Ministry of Education and Technical Education and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology have signed a joint cooperation protocol to develop some technical schools into joint schools for applied technology.

The cooperation protocol was signed in the presence of Minister of Education and Technical Education Tarek Shawky and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, and witnessed by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

The cooperation protocol, which will ensure the schools focus on communications and information technology (CIT), comes as part of the state’s vision for developing Egypt’s technical education and vocational training system.

This is with a view to meet the needs of the labour market for new professions and specialisations.

Shawky indicated that a group of schools will be created into joint schools of applied technology, namely in Cairo, Alexandria, Suez, Daqahleya, and Minya governorates, starting from the 2021-2022 academic year.

Talaat said that these schools specialise in training qualified technicians to work in the field of CIT, adding that the duration of the study will be three years.

The minister added that after successfully completing the three year programme, the students will receive a certificate for completing the diploma of applied technology studies.
