KCOM extends FTTP coverage to Bishop Burton

Hull-based broadband provider KCOM has announced that its fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) network has been extended to Bishop Burton, with it saying the village is the latest to benefit as part of its GBP100 million (USD142 million) network expansion programme.

According to the operator, other locations to have recently gained access to its full fibre infrastructure include Driffield, Market Weighton, Pocklington, Nafferton, Hornsea, Withernsea and ‘large parts’ of Bridlington. Meanwhile, KCOM was also keen to highlight that over the last twelve months it had ‘ventured south of the Humber for the first time in its 117-year history’, having extended the reach of its fibre network to North Lincolnshire towns and villages including Barton, Brigg, Barrow, Goxhill, Hibaldstow, Messingham and Epworth.

Looking ahead, meanwhile, KCOM said it intends to connect more East Riding communities along the A1079 corridor ‘later this year’, with the village of Melbourne, near Pocklington, and its surrounding areas reportedly set to be the first to benefit.
