Egypt, Belarus discuss enhancing cooperation in communications, IT sectors

Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat met with Belarus’ Ambassador in Cairo, Sergei Terentiev, to discuss strengthening joint cooperation in the fields of communication and information technology.

The cooperation between the two countries will include efforts in capacity building, digital transformation, and cybersecurity.

Talaat stated that his Ministry gives great attention to supporting the legislative framework, which can be seen in the recent issuance of Egypt’s Information Technology Crimes Law.

Egypt has also recently introduced a Personal Data Protection Law, which is in line with the best international practices, particularly the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Work is currently underway to issue the Electronic Transactions Law.

For his part, the ambassador welcomed deepening cooperation between Egypt and Belarus in the field of communications and information technology.

He noted that technology has become a fundamental pillar for achieving progress in all fields, in light of the increasing reliance on communication and information technology tools all over the world.

The ambassador also stressed the importance of cooperation in providing specialised training in order to provide distinguished young professionals in technological fields.
