FTTH growth continues in Spain

Spain had a total of 10.8 million FTTH lines as of the end of July, according to the latest data published by the regulator CNMC.

This was 1.4 million more than in the same month last year and contrasted with a 0.9 million reduction in DSL connections over the same period.

In July alone, the number of FTTH lines increased by 127,144, while the DSL and HFC total fell by 56,883 and 22,075 respectively.

Movistar was the leading provider of FTTH, with a market share of 41.3%, or 4.5 million lines.

The fixed broadband total as of July was 15.47 million, with the number increasing by 59,189 during the month.
