Swiss full-service provider UPC Switzerland has announced that it is gradually introducing VoLTE services for its customers.
Users with compatible iOS devices can use the function immediately, whilst VoLTE will be added for devices with Android operating systems during H2 2020. The service incurs no additional costs and is billed as a normal call, according the subscription, the company noted, adding that VoLTE calls provide improved quality and use less battery power. Commenting on the launch, Chief Commercial Officer Stefan Fuchs was quoted as saying: ‘UPC Mobile offers are the perfect addition to our product portfolio and are highly recommended by more than 80% of our customers. Thanks to the VoLTE launch, our customers can now save energy and make better-quality calls with a faster call connection on the most-used mobile network in Switzerland.’
As noted by TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, UPC’s mobile services have been provided via an MVNO deal with Swisscom since January 2019, when the state-owned telco replaced Salt as UPC’s host network.
