Ncell, the private telecom operator has collaborated with two of the Private School Associations (PABSON and NPBASAN) to bring a monthly plan for easy online learning. The special monthly plan targets the students and teachers to perform online classes in this COVID-19 pandemic. As the schools are closed throughout the country, they are bound to perform online classes using the internet.
National Private and Boarding Schools Association Nepal (NPABSAN) and Private and Boarding Schools’ Organization Nepal (PABSON) are two of the renowned private school organizations in Nepal. They have signed an understanding (MoU) to use the Ncell’s mobile data for the connectivity required for the online classes. The monthly plan introduced will provide affordable and easy mobile broadband for the students, teachers, and schools.
Ncell’s offer for the students under PABSON and N-PABSAN includes a special SIM with voice, data, and SMS combo package. The SIM card includes 20GB of data per month for online learning using applications like Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams. This large data package is worthy for the students, teachers to attend online classes for a long period. Other data package is 3GB data (1 GB in 3G/4G network and 2GB in 4G network). Similarly, the other packages in the offer are 120 min talk per day within the CUG network, 50 minutes on-net talk time per month, and 50 SMS within Ncell per month. CUG network means the closed user group for the school, with which the students, teachers, and staff are associated. The cost of the special bundle including all of the packages mentioned above is Rs 250 per month which is exclusive of the taxes.

Earlier Ncell collaborated with the HISSAN network for such a similar kind of offer. It seems Ncell is targeting to fulfill the connectivity requirement of schools for the digital classes. This has great potential now due to the closure of schools and the people’s acceptance of digital platforms for learning like the Government’s Sikai Chautari.
