M-net fiber networks passed 770,000 homes at end-2019

Regional operator M-net has revealed that its fibre-optic (FTTx) networks passed 770,000 households and businesses in Bavaria at the end of 2019, an increase of 10% from 700,000 a year earlier. Around 490,000 customers were supplied with internet, telephony or TV services by the operator at 31 December 2019, up from approximately 470,000 twelve months previously. The company, which is a subsidiary of Stadtwerke Munchen (SWM), reported revenue of EUR260 million (USD292 million) for the twelve months ended 31 December 2019, a rise of 2.4% from EUR255 million in 2018.

M-net is aiming to increase FTTx network coverage to 620,000 homes and businesses in Munich by mid-2021, representing around 70% of households and 81,000 businesses in the city, while in Augsburg it is aiming to connect a further 11,000 homes and 1,500 commercial units between 2020 and 2027.
