The number of UK homes that have access to a subscription video on demand service has topped 15 million.
In its latest Establishment Survey data BARB says 15.01 million homes (53%) have a subscription to either Netflix, Amazon Prime Video or Now TV. The figures are for the quarter ending March 31, 2020, just as the UK began to enter lockdown.
Compared to Q1 2019, the number of UK homes with at least one subscription to these providers has grown by +12.6%.
Netflix remains the mpst popular service with just over 13 million homes subscribed, a year-on-year growth of +13.4%. In the same period, Amazon Prime Video has grown by 32% to almost 7.9 million homes. Now TV is stable year-on-year at just over 1.6 million homes.
The number of UK homes without a TV set has increased by 213,000 in the year, meaning there are now 1.59 million UK households without a TV set.
