Pakistan’s Ufone helps stay-at-home end users

Ufone has stepped forward to help people by introducing a monthly internet offer called Super Internet Plus that, it says, solves the hassle of weekly recharge and assists in working from, and staying at, home while getting connected to the outside world.

The monthly package offers 13GB of which 8 GB is for internet along with an additional 5 GB for the WhatsApp facility across Pakistan. It is available for Rs. 499 (about $3.14).

Connectivity in Pakistan is dominated by mobile rather than fixed broadband, so working from home will require more use of mobile phones for business as well as personal requirements. Ufone says this initiative will encourage remote communication and content sharing, making working from home easy for professionals. Customers can subscribe to this offer while staying at home and dialling a specific number.

The company also highlights the existing Upaisa mobile money option as a one-stop solution for customers’ various mobile and financial transactions needs, including free-of-charge balance recharge, and utility bill payments as well as transfers to other bank accounts. Multiple online channels are also available to facilitate recharge.

It’s an interesting – and welcome – echo of the recent news that banks and operators in Kenya have been working together to make cashless payments easier.
