Dialog launches free trilingual hotline for all Sri Lankans to receive advice on coronavirus

Dialog Axiata Plc, Sri Lanka’s premier connectivity provider, in partnership with Wavenet International Ltd. and MyDoctor (My Health Solutions Ltd), has launched a free trilingual hotline 1390 for all Sri Lankans to receive information and advice on the coronavirus, providing access to doctors without the requirement of physically visiting a hospital or clinic. This convenient and easy-to-use service is a timely development, as the pandemic continues to spread.

This trilingual advisory service is free of charge for all, with call charges to the hotline being free for all Dialog customers and other networks that offer the same. The hotline can be accessed by dialling 1390 from any network, while an Android or iOS app to access information regarding COVID-19 will also soon be launched. The treatment process for the coronavirus, a respiratory illness which affects its host through the eyes, nose and mouth, emphasises the importance of isolating affected patients, due to its highly contagious nature. This hotline aims to provide Sri Lankans with all the required information such as symptoms to note and precautions to take in order to prevent further spreading of the disease. The detailed information regarding COVID-19 was contributed by Dr. Prof. Neelika Malavige, who is a Professor at the Department of Microbiology of the Faculty of Medical Sciences. If the user requires further clarifications via a qualified doctor, the user has the option of speaking to a doctor via the ‘Doctor on Call’ service.

The COVID-19 Information Hotline, developed in partnership with Wavenet International Ltd. and MyDoctor (My Health Solutions Ltd), will be the first of its kind to provide users with this service, free of charge.
