Viettel, the largest mobile operator in Vietnam announced that it has officially become the first telecommunication operator to test the new 2,600MHz band in 12 provinces and cities in Vietnam.
Previously, to ensure the quality of 4G service (for more than 38,000 4G BTS) in lack of frequency resources, Viettel had to optimize the whole 1,800 MHz band and part of 2,100 MHz band. In this context, the 2,600 MHz band turns out to be the most significant resource to obtain the superior quality of 4G service in comparison with 3G service, especially in provinces and cities with high density of 4G subscribers. In those utilizing the new band, Viettel’s 4G network speed will be twice higher than the current one.
In comparison with Tet 2019 (Lunar New Year), demand for 4G data will be twice as high, and demand for 3G data will slightly increase by 10% while voice and messaging services are predicted to experience a 10-15% decrease in demand, according to the Operator.
Simultaneously, Viettel also takes other reinforcing measures such as adding equipment, operating new BTSs and mobile transceivers, upgrading the system, and so on in festive areas and events. Considering the escalation in travelling demand during Tet, Viettel has reviewed and optimized their network along national highways, city gateways, city centers, touristic sites, resorts, airports, railway stations, coach stations, and so on. Other than supporting the mobile service quality, Viettel adopts comprehensive solutions for all services from fixed landline, Internet to television, getting ready to satisfy peak demands during Tet.
