SQU, Huawei sign pact to transfer ICT technologies via academy programme

Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), represented by the College of Engineering, and Huawei Tech Investment (Oman) on Wednesday signed a letter of agreement for transfer of ICT technologies to SQU via Huawei Authorised Information and Network Academy (HAINA) programme.

Based on the letter of agreement, Huawei and SQU, represented by the College of Engineering, will work together to develop a cooperative working relationship where SQU and Huawei will utilise training programmes to transfer ICT technologies to SQU via the HAINA programme. Huawei will deliver its training and certification programmes to SQU offered through HAINA, and promote SQU as a training organisation to its students and customer base for both HAINA based programmes and selected professional programmes.

In addition, Huawei will provide the Huawei Certification Academy Instructor (HCAI) training service for SQU professional instructors and provide the simulation tool used for HCAI certification training along with the HCAI R&S course lab equipment for ICT academy.

The College of Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University will provide classroom and other teaching facilities to accommodate Huawei ICT equipment for HAINA programme performance and provide professional instructors to become the Huawei Certification Academy Instructors.

The college will embed the HAINA certification course in the curricula and liaise with local networking industry to promote and deliver HAINA network training in ICT industry in Oman. The college will also work with Huawei to develop the training schedule that meets the students’ needs. Both parties will monitor the HAINA programme and offer suggestions for continuous improvement and work cooperatively to explore other opportunities for alliances between the two organisations.

The letter of agreement was signed at SQU by Prof Amer Ali al Rawas, deputy vice chancellor for Academic Affairs and Community Service at Sultan Qaboos University, and Chen Bing, CEO of Huawei Tech Investment (Oman).

The ceremony was attended by Prof Hadj Bourdoucen, dean of College of Engineering and Dr Mohammed al Badi, head of ECE Department, and Ravis Wang, VP of D&S, Huawei Tech.
