German regional network operator Ewe Tel is inviting customers in rural areas still using 3G UMTS for mobile data to upgrade to LTE. The move comes as the 3G network is shut down and masts converted to support LTE and future 5G services.
Ewe Tel said it can automatically transfer customers for free over the coming weeks, with customers informed via SMS when the transfer is complete. The operator is inviting affected customers to look through the LTE tariffs available on the Ewe Tel website.
