CityFibre connects first premises to its network in Coventry

British pure fiber provider CityFibre has announced that it has connected the first households to its network in the city of Coventry in the Midlands. In a press release regarding the development, the operator noted that, with network construction in the city having gotten underway last November, premises in the Old Church Road and Gayer Street areas of Coventry are the first to be able to take up services over its infrastructure via a tie-up with Vodafone UK. Looking ahead, Longford and Bell Green will reportedly be the next locations where services will be made available. CityFibre has said it is investing more than GBP60 million (USD79 million) rolling out fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) technology across Coventry as part of a strategic partnership with Vodafone UK.

This is the second switch-on in as many months for CityFibre; as previously reported by CommsUpdate, last month the operator confirmed that, having invested more than GBP30 million on its rollout of FTTP in Peterborough, it had connected the first households to the network in that city.
