Liquid Telecom partners with Kymeta to offer internet services in remote areas in Africa

The Pan-African telecom firm Liquid Telecom, in a bid to develop connectivity in Africa, signed a servicing agreement with the American firm Kymeta Corporation, specialized in the provision of internet connectivity thanks to its network combining satellite and cell technologies. The partnership was signed during the AfricaCom 2018, held on November 12-15, 2018 in Cape Town, South Africa.

"This new strategic partnership between Liquid Telecom and Kymeta marks a disruptive moment in the evolution of very small aperture terminal (VSAT) services for the African continent. By pairing the latest Liquid VSAT Internet platform with Kymeta's satellite terminals, the companies are bringing unrivalled connection quality, speed and availability to people on the move and in places that have never been connected before", said Scott Mumford, managing executive of satellite and VSAT at Liquid Telecom.

According to Neville Meijers, sales manager at Kymeta Corporation, this new partnership offers unlimited communication possibilities to Liquid Telecom in Africa. "This mass market broadband platform can be deployed quickly and easily without skilled personnel, delivering Gigabit connectivity anywhere", he said.

The aims of this partnership are the same as those of the agreement signed in May 2018 by thePan-African telecom firm with China TelecomGlobal: boost its data capacities, expand its presence in Africa to reach new clients and generate new revenues in the data segment.
