Ooredoo expands FTTH across entire Addu City

Ooredoo Maldives has expanded its ‘SuperNet’ fibre-optic broadband service to all districts of Addu City. ‘Today, we are truly overwhelmed to connect the entire population of the beautiful Addu City with our SuperNet fixed broadband services with great speeds up to 100Mbps which can transform the way you connect to the digital world and the global economy,’ commented the firm’s CEO Najib Khan.

The Communications Authority of the Maldives (CAM) awarded an ISP licence to cellco Ooredoo in August 2015 and the firm launched commercial fixed telephony and broadband services in the capital Male in May 2016, notes TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database. Since then, fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) services have been expanded to other locations, including Hulhumale, Vilufushi, Kulhudhuffushi, Villingili, Maradhoo, Eydhafushi, Maradhoo Feydhoo and Gahdhoo.
