Azerfon 4G footprint reaches 33 regions

Azeri mobile operator Azerfon, which operates under the brand name Nar, has revealed that it installed 74 3G and 161 4G base stations in the second quarter of this year. With regards to LTE coverage, Nar now reaches an additional 22 regions, namely Agdash, Dashkesan, Ganja, Imishli, Kurdamir, Lankaran, Lerik, Masalli, Mingachevir, Gakh, Gazakh, Gabala, Salyan, Shabran, Sheki, Shamakhi, Shamkir, Tovuz, Ujar, Yardimli, Yevlakh and Zagatala, bringing its 4G footprint up to 33 regions. In addition, the mobile operator says its subscriber base increased by 6% year-on-year to more than 2.1 million at 30 June 2018, while mobile data usage has risen by 65% compared with Q2 2017. In total, Nar’s wireless services cover 93% of the country’s territory via a network of more than 6,500 base stations.

‘We are very satisfied with the development dynamics of the second quarter. Notable increase of the customer base and the growth rate of the mobile data usage in Baku, and especially in the regions, are our main achievements in the second quarter of the current year,’ commented CEO of Azerfon Gunnar Pahnke, adding: ‘We will work on maintaining the growth rate and achieving even higher results by the end of this year.’
