The total number of internet subscribers in Oman, excluding active mobile broadband subscribers, increased by 10.8 percent to 389,434 on 30 June compared with the number in December 2017, according to the latest data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The number of fixed broadband connections at more than 256 Kbps increased by 10.9 percent to 387,093 in the first six months. The remaining 2,341 subscribers were fixed narrowband internet customers with service below 256 Kbps. The NCSI report notes that the number of active mobile broadband subscribers declined by 3.2 percent to 4.21 million from 4.35 million at the end of December 2017. Total fixed telephone lines increased by 7.7 percent to 536,335 by the end of June.
