Qubee plans countrywide LTE launch in Bangladesh

Qubee, a WiMax internet service provider, has announced that the operator would launch LTE or 4G services across Bangladesh.

The brand of Augere Wireless Broadband Bangladesh Limited launched the services in two districts after five years of receiving licence from the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission amid talks on transferring its clients to another WiMax service provider Banglalion.

Although the company received approval in 2009, the operator is yet to expand its services extensively mainly due to poor response from its clients.

An AWBBL statement quoting its chief commercial officer Proteek Kundu said, ‘AWBBL is in the process of upgrading its network to LTE.’

He said, ‘We have already launched our LTE services in Bogra and Narayanganj, and very soon we plan to cover the whole country with our LTE services.’

In addition to this, AWBBL continues its focus on its B2B business, catering to the telecom requirements of its enterprise customers, the AWBBL statement said.

Over the last few months, the company has strengthened its product portfolio and is now ready to cater to almost any requirement of an enterprise customer.

‘Riding on our superior service levels, we cater to some of the big names in the Bangladesh market today and intend to acquire many prestigious accounts in the days to come,’ said AWBBL chief technology officer Mirza Borhan Kabir.

Qubee began its operation from 2009 riding on WiMax technology to provide fast and wireless internet facility. But, over the period the WiMax technology became obsolete globally while updated technology has emerged and customers are switching to it.
