Fintech firm Mobeewave has announced plans to introduce its acceptance platform for contactless payments in the UAE
This marks the debut of Mobeewave’s platform in the MEA region. The solution will be rolled out by payments solutions firm Network International in partnership with IDEMIA and Mastercard as well.
Designed to turn smartphone into a payment terminal, the platform uses the NFC functionality to allow individuals and merchants to accept contactless payments, including mobile wallets.
The inexpensive tap-on-phone solution, which is currently available in Australia, Canada and Poland, eliminates the need for external hardware.
Mobeewave chief growth officer Vincent Alimi said: “We’re looking forward to working with Network International to introduce Mobeewave’s innovative payment acceptance platform in the UAE.
“We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with the largest merchant acquirer in the UAE – as well as industry leaders IDEMIA and Mastercard – and are eager to provide our solution to merchants in the region for the first time.”
Mobeewave previously signed a collaboration agreement with Samsung Electronics to make its platform available for commercial use on select Samsung devices in certain markets.
