Turkey’s largest mobile operator by subscribers Turkcell has announced it is deploying ‘indoor gigabit connectivity’ using the Ericsson Radio Dot System, designed to offer higher quality coverage and capacity in hard-to-reach places such as commercial buildings, shopping malls, conference halls and other indoor high-demand spots.
A demo at Turkcell’s Tepebasi (Istanbul) office showed downlink gigabit speeds using carrier aggregation over three LTE frequency carriers, 4×4 MIMO and 256QAM, via two dual-band Radio Dot small cells at one location. Turkcell plans to expand the service to various locations during 2018.
