MyTel kicks off commercial services

Mytel Company, Myanmar’s fourth operator announced that they started selling SIM cards in Nay Pyi Taw, eastern Bago and Kayin State on March 15.

“A key point of our launch plan has always been a focus on more rural areas, and the provinces away from large cities like Yangon and Mandalay. We are excited to see what our superior technology, our 4G capable network, and our commitment to empowering the people of Myanmar will do for the future of this country’s telecommunications market,” said U Zaw Min Oo, chief external relations officer at MyTel.

According to a news release, they plan to expand their network in all 15 states and regions of Myanmar next month.

MyTel’s base rates for calls will be K10/minute for within network and K23/minute for calls out of network. The base rates for SMS will be K10. A SIM card costs K1500.

The new MyTel MyLife plan will offer a 750MB+ 100 minute welcome bonus available for 60 days after activation of the SIM card.

Consumers can also enjoy 50 percent top-up bonuses every time they recharge.

MyTel launched on February 11 their “First Call” event hosted in Nay Pyi Taw.

MyTel is a company from Viettel, a consortium of 11 local firms and a subsidiary of the military-run Myanmar Economic Corporation (MEC) called Star High Public Company.
