Technology experts to attend Effat event

Effat University, Saudi Arabia’s first private non-profit women’s university, is hosting the two-day 15th Learning and Technology Conference from Feb. 25 under the theme “Internet of Things...Embedding Intelligence”.

The annual conference will focus on recent technological developments underpinning best practices and innovations in learning and teaching,

“We have been organizing the Learning and Technology Conference annually since 2002 and this year is especially important at national and regional levels because the Internet of Things (IOT) has transformed the educational landscape and paved the way for enriched learning experiences.” commented Dr. Haifa Jamal Al-Lail, president of the university.

In addition to attracting leading educators and students, the conference brings together business leaders, technology experts, policy-makers and government officials from within, as well as from outside the Kingdom.

Key event speakers will in include, Scott Amyx, chair and managing partner at Amyx Venture; Dr. Habiba Al-Safar, head of Khalifa University’s Center of Excellence and Biotechnology; Mohamed Aboud, co-founder and executive manager of Hadath for Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Rodolphe El-Khoury, dean of the University of Miami's School of Architecture; Prof. Speh Rainer, chief technology officer at Siemens; and Dr. Abdulrahman Al Ahdal, IEEE member.

The opening day will conclude with an evening event at which an award will be presented for the best conference paper.

Effat University was established in 1999 as a non-profit educational institute specialized in offering higher education for girls in the Kingdom. The university has become a distinguished and accredited center for scientific research in the Kingdom, with researchers in different fields contributing to building a knowledge-based economy that will add value to the future development of the Kingdom.
