Orange boosts fiber footprint in France, Spain

As Orange reaches the halfway point in its Essentiels2020 plan, the group has made public the acceleration of its operational performance. Fibre deployment in Europe is ahead of schedule, allowing Orange to plan for 20 million FTTH households in France and 16 million in Spain by 2020.

In Spain, Orange’s initial goal of reaching 14 million fibre households will be achieved in 2018, according to the telco. Currently, Orange’s fibre nears 12 million Spanish homes, so the company plans to invest over €1.5 billion to reach its 2020 goal.

In addition, the telco claims to be one of Europe’s leaders in fixed mobile convergence, with ten million customers. In Spain, the company has also built a solid position in the pay-TV market with over half a million subs.

Financially, the company expects growth in adjusted EBITDA of around 2% in 2017, as well a return to growth in operating cash flow in 2017, followed by an acceleration of the growth rate in 2018 and continued growth in 2019 and 2020.

“Today we are halfway through our Essentiels2020 strategic plan, through which we aim to define ourselves by the excellence of our networks and by the innovative and enriched services that we provide our customers, offering them an unmatched customer experience,” said Stéphane Richard, chairman and CEO, Orange
