US-headquartered company, Rohn Products International Holdings, has announced that it has established Oman’s first factory specialising in the manufacture, construction, and development of communication towers and related products.
The factory is located in Sohar and was built at an estimated cost of $26m (OMR10m), Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.
The factory, which is a joint venture between the private sector in Oman (40%) and the US (60%), spans 39,000m2 and consists of a 10,000m2storage area.
According to ONA, the factory currently has a monthly production capacity of 28 towers. Rohn is expecting this to double in Phase 2 of the project, which will be completed by the middle of 2018.
