du to offer subscribers free OSN Wavo trial

UAE telco du is to offer customers a free subscription to OSN’s new online and mobile content app Wavo until the end of the year.

The partnership agreement between the telco and Middle East pay-TV platform, signed at Dubai technology fair GITEX, will also see du become the exclusive third-party distributer for Wavo in the UAE.

“Building on OSN’s mantra of ‘anywhere, anytime’ entertainment, we’re giving more customers across the region the chance to enjoy all that Wavo has to offer, with something for everyone across an incredible spectrum of genres. This is a fantastic way to further our longstanding partnership with du, by strengthening our bond with this additional exclusive agreement,” said Martin Stewart, CEO, OSN.

Osman Sultan, CEO, Emirates Integrated Telecommunications, added: “Our latest partnership with OSN enables us to further bolster our offering, not just for our TV customers, but for customers who rely on multiple screens for their entertainment needs.”

The content deal provides du customers with 14 channels of general entertainment, five for movies and six for sports, available in bundles or separate packs. Premium content includes HBO hit series Westworld and Big Little Lies, as well as Disney titles.

The Wavo app, which was launched by OSN in August 2017, is available for mobile devices and tablets, PCs and Samsung and LG smart TVs.

The streaming service offers a range of flexible or ‘skinny’ packs from OSN including live and catch-up TV, with English and Arabic series, movies and sporting events. Sports subscription passes are offered by OSN on daily, weekly or monthly basis, and all packs are offered without need of an annual subscription – in a move designed to better appeal to the youthful, digital-savvy population of the Middle East and North Africa.

The usual cost to subscribers in the Gulf for the Wavo Entertainment pack is US$9.99 per month; Wavo Movies at $6.99 per month’ Wavo Sports $4.99 per day / $7.99 per week / $13.99 per month; or the WWE Network App at US$9.99 per month.
