TIM boosts FTTC service to Monte Urano

Telecom Italia (TIM) has activated a fibre-optic network in the town of Monte Urano in the central Italian region of Marche. The fibre service is already available in over 2,500 households, giving customers access to the internet at speeds of up to 200 Mbps, after the operator rolled out 8 kilometres of cable to connect 24 street cabinets at a cost of around EUR 300,000.

TIM recently announced a major upgrade of its fibre-to-the-cab (FTTC) network all over Italy, allowing subscribers in 1,300 localities to access the internet at download speeds of 200Mbps, double the previous maximum, and upload speeds of 20Mbps. Its FTTH service currently offers speeds of up to 1Gbps in over 70 Italian cities.
