FTTH is now outperforming DSL in Spain, according to the latest data produced by the regulator CNMC.

It shows that as of the end of July there were 5.7 million FTTH lines, or 107,712 more than a month earlier.

Movistar was the market leader, claiming 56.1% of the total. All told, the number of FTTH lines increased by 1.6 million in the year to July, while the number of DSL lines fell by 1.2 million to a total of 5.6 million.

In the fixed line segment, Movistar (41.99%) claimed the most connections, followed buy Orange (28.38%) and Vodafone (23.12%).

However, Masmov!l (22,800) gained the most new connections in July, with all the three other leading providers – Movistar, Orange and Vodafone – seeing a fall.
