Thuraya is gearing up for public sector partnerships in Saudi Arabia after completing a road show there, reports Itp.net. The roadshow was developed in line with increasing KSA's public sector interests and was held in July in places including Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam. The company also held meetings with senior-level officials and government system integrators to demonstrate its latest product portfolio and explore possibilities for collaborative ventures.
Thuraya's national service partner, Farhan Commercial Company, played a prime role in enabling meetings with the country's crucial decision makers. Many meetings were held with specialist integrators who work with the government to provide customised applications for military and government vehicles. Thuraya also held discussions to determine the scope for developing specific M2M products, such as seismic sensors.
Fahad Kahoor, director of market development at Thuraya and team leader on the KSA trip, said its relationship with influential companies like Farhan has given it a strong foothold in KSA and helped it gain steady growth in key vertical markets across the region. For example, Thuraya's SatSleeve+ caters for the BYOD trend and enables people to turn their existing phone into a satellite smartphone.
