PCCW Solutions, the IT services flagship of PCCW Limited, has been awarded a US$17.6 million contract to help the Transport Department of HKSAR Government to modernize its existing Transport Information System (TIS), which will enable more efficient processing of a vast amount of traffic and transport data to facilitate and streamline day-to-day operation of the Transport Department.
Riding on the successful implementation of the first TIS a decade ago, PCCW Solutions is selected to design, implement and maintain the advanced TIS, synchronizing with the smart city initiative of the HKSAR Government
The new TIS will make use of the latest information technology to process both textual and spatial data integrated with Geographic Information System for managing traffic flow. The intelligent transport system will enhance citizen experience by allowing the general public access to traffic and transport information real-time through government portals. The system will also enable real-time traffic condition predictions to improve the mobility of Hong Kong.
