Czech O2 sees IPTV growth

The Czech O2 TV service ended the second quarter with 225,000 IPTV and OTT subscribers, a 3.5% increase on the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the complementary service Multi, which allows viewers to watch TV on more than one set at a time, continued to grow in popularity and had over 34,000 subscribers.

All told, O2 had nearly 260,000 active set-top boxes as of the end of Q2.

Thousands of viewers also watched 02 TV Sport on a 24-hour basis for CZK69 (€2.64).

In addition, O2 TV Sport could be received by any viewer subscribed to the O2 TV Free channel, available terrestrially via an HbbTV application.

The Czech incumbent O2 had consolidated revenues of CZK18.5 billion in H1, with O2 TV one of the key growth drivers.

Net profit was up 3% to CZK2.6 billion, while operating profit EBITDA increased slightly to CZK5.1 billion.
