Visitors and businesses located in the vicinity of the Seward Boat Harbor could find themselves enjoying a new 5G wi-fi service by the end of the summer.
Seward City Manager Jim Hunt informed members of the City Council earlier this week that a new 5G system has been installed but isn’t yet widely accessible because of a delay in the shipment of equipment necessary to disseminate the signal throughout the harbor.
“The signal is there,” he said. “It just can’t be accessed because it is one single beam right now. The parts are coming. Before the end of the season, we think we’ll have it.”
Hunt said visitors have been able to access the wi-fi system near the beach and that it has worked well.
