TIC offers unlimited data packages

Landline Internet users will be offered unlimited data packages, said Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi, CEO of the Telecommunications Infrastructure Company of Iran (TIC).

The announcement comes on the heels of complaints by users about limited Internet packages for several years ISNA reported on Saturday.

Unlimited packages had been suspended by companies in recent years for hitherto unknown reasons.

“Three packages have been proposed by TIC to give Internet subscribers, two, six and 16 megabytes per second unlimited access,” Jahromi said.

Increasing Internet usage is crucial for the country’s ADSL providers, he said.

“Increasing access to the Internet will have a great impact on development of Internet-based businesses as well as creating job opportunities.” He did not provide any details about the costs or the launch time of the services.

MTN-Irancell, through their latest wireless service TD-LTE, offers large packages of 1500GB a year, which although not marketed as unlimited, offers users more than the average operators.

That package would cost 10 million rials ($267) per year.
