Reinforcing goetzpartners’ links with the annual Telecom Review Leaders’ Summit in the Middle East region, ERIK ALMQVIST, Managing Director and Head of Middle East business at the Dubai office of goetzpartners, moderated a panel session, discussing the type of infrastructure that will be needed to drive digital transformation.
The panel moderated by Erik Almqvist was at the heart of the debate, and brought together eminent leaders from both the government sector and telecoms operators. Its topic – future infrastructure for digital transformation – investigated the constraints and imperatives surrounding infrastructure as countries and cities move towards greater digital transformation: fiber to the home (FTTH), the Internet of Things (IoT), 5G connectivity, and also the need for regulation. The panel also explored data growth projections, as well as discussing the level of investment that operators and governments could be expected to make in new technology generations. Erik Almqvist says: “Striking the right balance between investment incentives and competition will be crucial for the Middle East economies. With a wide spread between leading and lagging nations in ICT development, the right policy choices have never been more important.”
