The new C Spire TV is attributed already with eliminating the need for set-top boxes (STBs) and is claimed to deliver all of the features consumers love about cable TV in what is called a ‘a convenient and simple app’ designed to run on streaming devices from Amazon, Apple, and Roku as well as Android and Apple tablets and smartphones.
The new service is also integrated with the Amazon Echo voice assistant and a custom Alexa skill so viewers can search, discover and even change channels. C Spire TV also uses machine-learning to understand a customer habits and keep favourite content front-and-centre.
This app-based flexibility is designed to support the many new ways customers are consuming content, asserted to Ashley Phillips, general manager of C Spire Home. “It’s about time TV evolved from cable’s ball and chain mentality rooted in a bygone era,” he said. “For us, new technology is only as good as its potential to improve the lives of customers. We live in a golden-age of TV content, and thanks to C Spire TV, customers will finally have a platform to do it justice.”
C Spire TV is in the final stages of beta testing and will launch in the first half of 2017 spring with availability for customers of C Spire Fibre’s gigabit internet product.
