Mobile operators SFR and Orange have introduced their respective LTE and LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) services in the French overseas territories of Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Saint-Martin, Saint Barthelemy, Reunion and Mayotte. Orange said that it offers 4G services with download speeds of 150Mbps in all seven territories (with population coverage of 99% in Reunion and 91% in Mayotte) free of charge, while potential subscribers in the capital cities of the ‘Antilles-Guyane’ grouping – comprising Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Saint-Martin and Saint Barthelemy – could access speeds of 300Mbps over Orange Caraibe’s LTE-A network (marketed as 4G+). For its part, SFR Caraibe – which operates in Guadeloupe, Martinique and French Guiana – markets 4G services with theoretical speeds of 70Mbps in Guadeloupe (95% population coverage), Martinique (98%) and French Guiana (70%). SFR Reunion and SFR Mayotte, meanwhile, offer maximum download speeds of 300Mbps over LTE-A networks operating in the 800MHz band.
